The Curriculum

First Year:
During the first year students focus on gaining strong technical skills in all practical disciplines. This is supported by lectures on nutrition and hydration, injury prevention
and management and anatomy and physiology. Students work towards Vocational Graded Examinations (VGE) and Foundation in Dance Instruction (FDI) in three dance genres. Performance opportunities throughout the year help to develop artistic confidence.

Second Year:
Second year students continue to build on the technical skills achieved during the first year, further emphasis is placed upon developing artistic quality and creativity. Students continue to enter Vocational Graded Examinations (VGE), complete Foundation in Dance Instruction (FDI) in three dance genres and begin working towards Certificate in Dance Education (CDE) in three dance genres. Performance and teaching opportunities increase during the second year.

Third Year:
The curriculum broadens and includes a close liaison with The Agency providing personal support and guidance on career matters including tax, grooming and CV/portfolio preparation. Students have continual access to our photographer and recording facilities ensuring their portfolios are as representative as possible. Students also benefit from our audition technique training programme. These classes are taken by agency staff, tutors and visiting professionals.
Students also have access to performance opportunities throughout the year including: Pantomime, a musical theatre production, Cabaret Review and Graduate Showcase as well as The Centre's annual production "Centre Stage".
All third year students also have the option of completing
Vocational Graded Examinations (VGE) and Certificate in Dance Education (CDE) in three dance genres. The Centre's unique combination of performance related studies and acquisition of teaching qualifications ensures all graduates are fully equipped to enter their chosen profession.
