Award 2009 March
2008
Miss King, Mr. P. the staff and students would like to extend their
warmest congratulations to Mrs. Jill Knight on becoming the recipient of
the Imperial Award 2008. This is the highest accolade attainable by any
ISTD member and is only awarded for outstanding services to the society.
Mrs. Knight has been a teacher, examiner and committee member of the ISTD
for many year, she has trained many examiners and is instrumental in the
creation of the new Modern Theatre Faculty Syllabi. Mrs. Knight was also part of the
team responsible for developing the current marking system used in all
examinations.
Mrs. Knight is a valued and respected member of the teaching faculty at
The Centre and a worthy recipient of this prestigious award.

Lites" An Evening of Lite Entertainment, 10th December 2008
All our students took part
in the end of term production "Christmas Lites". Which was
performed in our studio theatre before an audience in excess of 120. The
evening consisted of dance, song and musical theatre. The high standard in
all disciplines is testament to the hard work and commitment of both staff
and students at The Centre.

"This is the course for me" Just some of the comments received
following our Open Day.
We were delighted to welcome over 150 visitors to The Centre. Prospective
students were
given the opportunity to watch classes and demonstrations and participate
in Ballet, Hip Hop, Musical Theatre and Contemporary workshops taken by members of our
faculty. It was a very busy but exhilarating day.

Awards – Wembley Arena 15th October 2008
The Agency @ The Centre was asked to provide eighty performers for The
MOBO Awards 2008 held at Wembley Arena on 15th October 2008.
The students spent the evening mixing with the artiste’s and
celebrities.

We are delighted to report that we sent our third students to an open
audition for Jean-Ann Ryan Productions on the 3rd October 2008
to gain valuable audition experience. No less than 13 were placed on her
books.
Bollywood
Film – London and India June - December 2008
Amanda Pegrum (3rd Year) has recently returned from India where
she has been filming the final scenes for her specially created role in
the Bollywood film “The Break Up” which is due for release early 2009.
Amanda has been filming scenes throughout the year in and around London
and South England.

Sampson “Singing In The Rain” DVD – The Centre 1st
October 2008
Over forty
1st, 2nd and 3rd year students performed
with George Sampson and Dancetronica in the filming of George’s new
video “Access 2 All Areas”. Using The Centre as a base for the night
shoot, “Singing In The Rain” was filmed in Bowater Road.
Facing
The World, Charity Gala - Blackheath 27th
September 2008
Over twenty
1st, 2nd and 3rd year students performed
at the “Facing The World” charity gala at The Blackheath Concert
Halls. The event, organised by The Centre graduate Lizzie Seargeant, was
hosted by the actor Bernard Hill (King Theoden of Rohan in The Two
Towers and The Return of the King) raised over £7000 for the charity
and featured performances and contributions by many former students of The
Centre.
Olympics and Paralympics Beijing August
– September 2008
Carrie Anne
Ingrouille – graduate student/tutor/choreographer – spent the summer
jetting back and forth to Beijing where she represented London performing
as one of the 38 dancers at the Olympic and Paralympic Handover ceremonies
before an audience in excess of 28 million people worldwide.
Examinations
2008 - 2009
The Centre’s syllabus tap tutor, Miss Ellis, has already begun this
years examination marathon. With seven Advanced I and Advanced 2
candidates successfully passing their examination on 23rd
October 2008.
Congratulations to The Centre graduate Sinead Hinchion who attained
Licentiate status on 19th October 2008.
